Thunderstorms & foamy beaches!

The thunder & lightening that served as an alarm clock this morning was spectacular! It has been quite some time since we have a had a true thunderstorm here, so it felt extra delightful! The awesome crackle & white flashes breaking up the darkness followed by the rumble and rattle of booming sound mixed in with the crashing waves...quite the epic soundtrack!

High tide brought a crazy thick layer of foam that resembled snow at some times and washing machine soap bubbles at others & has been blowing around the beaches and surrounding streets in little flurries!

It has been quite the show! =)

indulgence in a little nostalgia

sometimes it seems long ago
at times, just yesterday
a life changing meeting
set a million things in play

things I long to tell you
things I'd love to share
I feel you with me often
no matter who is there

you might wonder
from time to time
do I ever think of then
yes, it crosses my mind

that moment, a respite
natural, serene and free
blindsided, shaken and requited
twin souls by the sea

illuminating, creating
so much lost, was found
that which wasn't missing
unexpected, unrequested, so utterly profound

how much, so much
how much, soooo much
every single day
always going to miss it
forever I could have stayed

something of the fantasy
was more real than real
it spilled over into daily life
while spinning all the wheels

I often send you blessings
all is, as it should
be happy, healthy, thriving
life is beautiful and good

carry on, go forward, there is a must and so a can
another place and time, my love
you have my heart
you'll hold my hand

So, ummm...there's like a name for this?

Apparently I am not the only one this happens to and there is now a name for it and everything!!

Some people claim to never forget a face. And the ability can prove to be socially awkward.

A new study finds some people can remember faces of people they met years ago and only in passing. Others of us, of course, aren't blessed with that ability...

The "super-recognizers," as they're being called, excel at recalling faces and suggest that there is - as with many things - a broad spectrum of ability in this realm. The research involved administering standardized face recognition tests. The super-recognizers scored far above average on these tests - higher than any of the normal control subjects...

Super-recognizers recognize other people far more often than they are recognized. So they often compensate by pretending not to recognize someone they met in passing, so as to avoid appearing to attribute undue importance to a fleeting encounter, Russell said.

"Super-recognizers have these extreme stories of recognizing people," says Russell. "They recognize a person who was shopping in the same store with them two months ago, for example, even if they didn't speak to the person. It doesn't have to be a significant interaction; they really stand out in terms of their ability to remember the people who were actually less significant."

Updates

The past few months have been crazy busy, including much back and forth between central coast home and bay area home. Welcoming my nephew to the world was a delight. He was just under 10 pounds of perfection! It was so nice to see the joy of his parents, they have had to endure more than their fair share of obstacles and have some new ones to face during what should be the happiest time of their lives, so I am really grateful that they have such a beautiful healthy baby and really got to enjoy that.

I am jonesing for a camping trip and a little down time, but I may just have to settle for a lighter year and for shorter trips a bit further away, since so many of the nearby campgrounds were closed or minimized due to last years fires and it seems their availability and my free time aren't the largest current commodities. =D

In addition to the back and forth, I still have my full time "day job" and I decided to open my own business, which might actually be crazy, but I am still very excited. A bit nervous, and super sleepy, but very excited. With more hard work, diligence in budgeting and some luck, I may be able to move over to my own business full time by the start of next year and leave my day job behind, while allowing me to stay in this beautiful area I love so much, something I have been working towards for a long time.

There are many good reasons for taking this on, but some of the best are: having a venue to showcase local wines, goods and organic foods, local art for sale and my own artwork, getting to do things I already enjoy doing (but hopefully earning a living for it), creating something from nothing, creating the ability to better help my family, friends and community, ocean views, chocolate, cheese and wine! For those of you that read this that actually know me, it would probably be tough to imagine anything more suited to me - so lets just hope this gamble pays off! :)
