tending the garden

It was such a lovely day out that I took a quick run up to Miners Ace on my lunch hour yesterday to get some new organic soil and a bunch of new herbs, veggies and flowers. I could hang out in a plant nursery all day when the weathers good, but managed a very quick whirlwind of shopping and rushed back home. The rest of my lunch hour, and in between work and meetings I spent most of the afternoon cleaning up, trimming, relocating, replanting and planting. I got into a nice little fight with my lemon tree, I won, but not without gaining a few scratches, otherwise it was pretty tame.

The strawberries I put in 2 years ago are still thriving, so I just added some new soil to them and have left them in their own old happy container, but I've also decided to try a few new things this year. I added in brussel sprouts, green beans, various salad items, cilantro and an artichoke. I replenished 2 tomato plants, the basil, spearmint and oregano, increased to 6 snow pea plants from 1, but am leaving the newest crop of garlic and onions borne out of last years planting and am hoping the thyme and majorum will come back with new soil, some love and more space and light. The two differnt sages, rosemary and lavender continue to grow and the new flowers will be added to their bed today or this weekend. Once that is completed, to my surprise, I have managed to fill up all the planting space, so I either need to check myself or get more containers...and since I have so enjoyed eating out of the garden over the past two years, I am really leaning towards more containers! :)

If I keep this up and move again anytime in the near future I am going to need a truck just for the garden...
